Calling All Coils: Favorite Products From The Styling Soul Team

We love all hair types here at Styling Soul, and we encourage you to wear your crown with pride.  Whether it’s wavy, straight, relaxed, permed or natural — we’re here for it!

The haircare industry has boomed since women started to embrace their textured hair, and sometimes it can be a little difficult to navigate the beauty store shelves to find out what works best for you. Everyone’s hair is different so the only sure way to find out is by trial and error, but here’s a little help from our coils to yours.

My favorite products for my 3A-3C hair is Shea Moisture’s Jamaican Black Castor Oil Line and Aunt Jackie’s Curls & Coils line. Both product lines avoid harsh sulfates and keep my curls feeling bouncy! They’re also perfect for layering in the winter with your favorite oils like coconut and olive oil!

I’m not too strict with my hair routine, and I usually just go to whatever is accessible to me at the moment. On wash days, I usually use the Cantu Shea Butter Complete Conditioning Co-Wash and I will forever love the Aussie 3 Minute Miracle ‘Moist’ Conditioner. Throughout the week I mositurize with olive oil and usually sleep with large twists or a loose high pony tail or ‘pineapple’ when I’m feeling lazy.

When I do Bantu knot my hair, I only use two products. For this style, I wash my hair and let it air dry almost completely. Then, I section my hair, add some of Shea Moisture's Curl Enhancing Smoothie to each section, brush the ends so they are completely untangled and moisturize them with coconut oil. That's it!

My favorite hair products are Creme Of Nature With Argan Oil Strength And Shine Leave-In Conditioner & Lottabody Moisturize Me Curl & Style Milk. My simple hair routine consists of washing and deep conditioning once a week, then using the LOC method (moisturizing and sealing strands with a liquid based, oil based, and then cream based product) before styling.

I wish I could say that one particular product line gives my hair complete awesomeness, but it’s in fact a mix of a few…maybe it’s the product junkie in me talking but who cares, I have the perfect mix that works MAGIC for my hair type!!

True by Made Beautiful’s leave-in conditioner, hydrating hair butter and their styling cream locks and seals in hair moisture, all while defining my curls! Taliah Waajid’s Curl Sealer gives my curls the shine they require, and I end to a perfect finish with Lotta Body’s Edge Control. These products are a MUST try if you suffer from a lack of moisture retention and need help with curl definition!
