3 Quick Morning Rituals to Improve Your Self-Esteem

It’s no secret that how you start your day plays a HUGE part in how the rest of your day will go. The more grounded you are when your day starts, it can pretty much guarantee that it’ll also be that much harder to bring you down. Try these quick and easy rituals to make sure your mornings are balanced and you are well taken care of before anything else!


Taking an Hour to Yourself

How many of us are guilty of immediately checking our phones as SOON as we wake up? As the natural guru HeyFranHey mentioned in a recent podcast of ‘The Friend Zone’, it is super important to take the first hour of your day and dedicate it to yourself and making sure you are centered and upbeat before taking on the rest of the world. Fran suggests taking time to meditate, detox, and/or exercise before “waking up to someone else’s mood.”

We totally agree. A hugely important aspect of self-love includes making sure you’re taking care of yourself and not letting the rest of the world tear you down before you even get out of bed. Take a listen below to hear the full podcast and Fran’s 7-day challenge.


Self-Love Journal

Possibly during your phone-free hour first thing in the morning, take 5-10 minutes to write a quick love-list to yourself. Essentially, this is just a list of things you love about yourself, whether that’s physical things (ex. I love my hair, my eyes, my skin, my style) or personality traits (ex. I love that I’m a good friend and that I am very passionate). This can be as long or as short as you like, but it’s always a good idea to make it a challenge. Try filling the whole page with a list of things you love about yourself. If you find it really hard to fill the whole page, that’s even the more reason to not stop until you do.

Mirror Affirmations

While you’re putting on your makeup in the morning and making sure your hair is perfectly laid, try saying a few self-love affirmations! It’s a great idea to pick a few lines from your self-love journal (above) and say them out-loud or in your head as you prepare for your day. Repeating these messages to yourself over and over every morning will eventually create a habit and deepen your belief in your self-worth and self-love. Once YOU know your worth and have an absolutely unconditional love for yourself, there’s absolutely nothing anyone can do to change your mind or bring you down.
