Wellness Wednesday [Earth Day Edition] – 3 Natural Ways to Stay Healthy

Hello, Pretty Girls!

As many of you may know, today is Earth Day! Since so much of today is being dedicated to loving and taking care of our home, why not look in to some ways the Earth takes care of us? Here’s a few quick, easy, and NATURAL ideas to add to any health and beauty regimen.

Herbal Teas

Getting the right amount of tea in your system can work wonders for your immune system, as well as your skin, hair, and overall well being! Herbal teas and green teas contain very little caffeine and are a perfect alternative to consuming tons of sugary juices and sodas. Here at PeekABoo PrettyGirl, we love putting a light herbal tea bag (or two… or three!) in a water bottle overnight with a little honey or agave to carry with you throughout the next day! It’s a great way to stay hydrated, and stay fabulous, as herbal teas carry a ton of antioxidants that aid in keeping skin clear, healthy, young, and can even prevent cancer! Some herbal teas containing echinacea and chamomile are great for even treating the common cold.

It’s ESSENTIAL that you spend enough time in the sun! Of course, not so much that you’re getting burned or anything, but the sun provides vitamin D which gets soaked up through our skin, and keeps us happy and healthy! A vitamin D deficiency can lead to Seasonal Affective Disorder, also known as SAD, which quite literally makes you feel, well, sad! Vitamin D deficiency can also lead to colds and other illnesses or a weak immune system. Be sure to get healthy and safe amounts of sunlight to keep your skin looking radiant and your mood afloat!

Natural Oils

Luckily for our hair, skin, nails, and a multitude of other things, we have easy access to a number of all natural oils that will keep us on top of our game while looking and feeling invincible. Some of the PeekABoo Team’s favorites are coconut oil, jojoba oil, and olive oil. The three of these can be used on your skin for a nice moisturizer in the winter months, or as a hair conditioning treatment or mixed in with your favorite products. These oils combined with your favorite essential oils like lavender, tea tree, and eucalyptus, also make for super soothing bath and body treatment year round! For even more usage of these all natural virgin and organic oils, coconut oil and olive oil are great for cooking any meal and perfect alternatives to butter or other not-so-great additives in your diet.
