The Beginner’s Guide to Makeup: Part 1

So you want to start doing your own make-up but have no idea where to start? Well here are a few products and tips to help you get started! Let’s start with the eyes first.

Mascara and Eyeliner

These two products can be a girl’s best friend on those days when you’ve stayed up late and need to look well rested the next morning. Mascara helps to elongate your lashes and make them appear more voluminous. Apply a few coats of mascara to your upper and lower lashes. A thin line of eyeliner on your upper and lower waterline will help you to look more awake and ready for the day ahead of you. These products are all you really need for those days when you are in a rush but really want to wear makeup.

Concealer and BB Creams

If you are just starting to experiment with makeup, you may not feel comfortable wearing a full face of foundation. However, you still have those problem areas that you want to cover up. Concealer is perfect for that. Find a concealer that matches your skin tone and isn’t too pricey since you are just beginning with makeup. Apply it to those dark spots or spots of discoloration to give you an even complexion. I would recommend the L.A Girl Pro Concealer that is only $2.99 and can be found at your local beauty supply store. A BB cream can be applied to your whole face to give you a light coverage.

Lip Gloss or a Nude Lipstick

Lastly, I would recommend lip gloss or a nude lipstick of your choice. When you first start experimenting with makeup, you may not be comfortable trying lots of colors at first. A lipgloss or nude lipstick will make it clear that you have on makeup, but it will look very natural and not stray away from how you usually look.

I would not recommend starting off with expensive makeup products. Experiment with less expensive products first and build your way up as you continue to learn more about makeup. To learn more about makeup you can always refer to older PeekABoo PrettyGirl blog posts. YouTube also has tons of makeup gurus who can help you to build your starter kit as well as your techniques. Good luck,
