Regardless of if you have “long hair don’t care “or short and sassy, we all strive for healthy hair. With so many products out there for hair care, it can be intimidating on the best option for you. Everything from seasonal changes to the amount of heat you need to use, there are certain rules that will help keep your hair in tip-top shape in these 5 simple steps!
Step 1. Shampoo and Conditioning
Maintaining the cleanliness of your hair is very important in achieving healthy hair. How often you should wash your hair depends on how dry your hair is. Washing your hair too often, makes the hair brittle and it will start to break off. Personally I wash my hair every other week, and that works for me. Target has fabulous products. My favorite product is OGX and Proganix products. With products ranging from $5-$7 dollars, this line is a must have for your hair needs!
Step 2. Moisturizer
A vital step in obtaining healthy hair is to always keep your hair moisturized. When your hair is properly moisturized, it prevents in from breaking off. A great moisturizer to use is coconut oil. Coconut oil is rich in vitamins, minerals and carbohydrates which are necessary components for strong hair. Priced at about $5-$8, it is a great option for your hair journey.
Step 3. Protective styles
It is important to be mindful of the types of styles you choose for your hair. The elements of each season play a role to the healthiness and damage level of the hair shaft. Throughout the year, you should pay attention to how the elements are affecting the hydration of your hair and style accordingly. Braids or buns provide great options when choosing a protective style.
Step 4 Treatments
Revitalizing your hair follicle is important when trying to maintain healthy hair, especially after using heat. Protein treatments are a great way to wake your hair up when its a little limp from over-styling. The protein treatment replenishes strength to your hair, and it will thus allow it to maintain length longer. My favorite treatment is eggs and mayonnaise which is full of protein it will restore your moister. We recommend mixing it with a little conditioner to make sure hair is soft and strong, and make sure to rinse out with COLD water (the egg might actually cook in your hair if the water is too warm)!
Stress less and laugh more! Stress plays a MAJOR role in your hair health and your overall well-being. When you stress, your hair will be one of the first things to go.
Live, love and have healthy hair!
